Welcome to Democratic Republic of Congo the Central African country and bordered with Rwanda and Uganda. Democratic Republic of Congo is famously known for the active mount Nyiragongo, mountain gorillas and lowland gorillas in Virunga National Park and Kahuzi Biega National Park in Eastern Province, Bukavu. In both these parks there are sanctuaries that are protecting orphaned gorillas and chimpanzees.
In Virunga National Park, you find the Senkwekwe gorilla orphaned center with conservation work of mountain gorillas and this is near to the Mikeno Lodge and most of volunteers stay at this luxury Mikeno lodge and with the opportunity to spot and listening to the wild chimpanzees in Tongo forest that is near the lodge.
More so the Virunga Foundation together with some international organizations conservation ideas have been put in place and programs like the Congo Hounds are practiced to hunt for the poachers in the park.
